K-rs at BG has did the loop a year or two ago and he said he climbed some of the rock down there.

I don't know the quality of it thought. You'd have to ask him.

I paddled around the base of it years ago and there probably is some solid lines on it, but there's also a lot of shite. I think it's mostly granodiorite (a kind of granite) that is quite fractured due to tectonic faulting.

zig there are some pictures of climbing on the cape chignecto rock on the computer at BG. it looks good but apparently there is a 12 or 13 hour approach.

Yeah Chignecto is quite the hike.
But what a hike it is.
Just make a weekend out of it, camp, climb, enjoy life.

If nothing good climbing wise comes from it at least you had a good weekend of hiking.

I've been there alot over the past year. There is a fantastic boulder on the beach at Seal Cove. As well, there are a number of nice lines around the cove.

The big stuff is brittle though.

I was just there last weekend and if I were you... don't bring climbing gear. Couldn't resist touching some rock but it turned out to be VERY BRITTLE even though it looks solid.
Handle with care...
The rock is some kind of precursor to granite (I think, I am not a geologist, that's what it feels like to me) but it need to be compressed for another few million years before I would call it safe.

PS: I must say though that some of the free standing towers look awesome at low tide if someone could bring the guts to do it regardless of rock quality.
