Strata Factor Slings

Postby Fred » Sat Jul 02, 2005 9:45 pm

we rapped off Strata Factor today and I picked up the sling that was slung around the horn. I suspect you left it behind Ulysse? Sorry but I used it to rebuild the webbing on the anchor below. I cut the old webbing out and replaced with two slings. The other stuff was looking pretty manky. I'll replace the sling someone left behind next time I'm out. I scoped out the second pitch of Strata Factor and it looks wicked so I might head back there sometime soon.
I want to go to hell... there's probably lots of rock to climb there.

Yeah, both pitches are amazing. The second one has a really hard crux. I love how on the first one you come right out on the arete. I have to get back on that one too for the redpoint. I found a BD .4 helpful during a mantle move on the first pitch.

I checked out that second pitch when I was rappelling and I couldn't see the crux. All the holds seemed to be there and it looked totally do-able. Where abouts is the crux?

If I remember right, its near the top with your right hand on the arete, left hand on side pulls.

Are you sure you aren't thinking of the first pitch or maybe Granite Planet. The second pitch is all face climbing I think. :?:

Ha Ha..... I'm thinking of granite planet, strata factor yeah the second pitch is great. Good moves, steep climbing, good gear and exposed. Yeah all the holds are there it just takes the endurance to climb them. There are some diagonal cracks that are really open handed when you traverse them, they really pump your forearms. I love it!!
