Suggestions for Rock shoes

Postby austinconrad » Mon Sep 30, 2013 10:02 pm

I'm about to spend some hard earned cash on new shoes and I need some suggestions. My current pair of Katana Velcros are getting pretty close to the end of their life. I'm leaning towards solutions or shamans so if anyone has owned either of those I could certainly use some advice as to how they performed.

Thanks

If possible try before you buy. I thought that Evolvs were better for wider feet, while the Katana is a narrower shoe.

If you're buying them to climb outside, the shoes you mentioned are overkill for climbing areas in NB. I would go with a Muira or Anasazi - shoes that edge really well, a crucial aspect of climbing in NB.

If you're buying them for the gym, get the cheapest pair as gym climbing, you will go through shoes quicker than climbing outside.

I usually keep my good shoes for outside and when they get used up I will use them in the gym and get a new pair. That way my good shoes last a very long time as they never go against a sandpaper textured wall..

That's my 0.02$

BTW, if you're relying on what I said, get the lace-ups. IMO they edge better than the Velcro. I still don't know why the velcro is called Muira. It's a different shoe!
