Ironically, I'm wondering about the route Trundle Flakes. Do you think the stability issue extends there based on what you've seen?

We climbed it a couple of weeks ago. I think it's OK. There is one flake on the right that is a bit crumbly but nothing seemed imminently dangerous. The flake has been like that since Jon put up the route.

Dom, I think Chris was asking if the trundling affected that route. Like I said earlier, it should be ok but it would be wise to inspect everything up there.

this was not the case in this situation, these blocks where detached by and other block that fell from about 20ft higher last winter and caused them to be balanced over the face of the wall... even tho it took a jack to get them off, they could have easily come down anytime..... but to be honest, the adventure was fun

Last night I climbed around the right side of Minkey. The site of that rockfall and trundle is impressive... and directly in line with where a belayer would have stood. If it had decided to let go at some point in the future, I'm almost certain it would have resulted in 2 fatalities. Why bother having that looming over an obviously high quality / high traffic route? Good work on the cleanup.

In other news... maybe my mind was playing tricks on me... but damn I could have swore I felt a small wobble in the massive block I belayed from at the top of 5.8 For Style. Looking around, I think that entire route is built on a game of Granite Jenga. I hope someday the entire route doesn't decide to come down. Seems crazy... but that's what I would have said last time I climbed Razor Flake at Otter Cliff in Maine. I wonder who'll get the Last Free Ascent?

Looking around, I think that entire route is built on a game of Granite Jenga. I hope someday the entire route doesn't decide to come down.

Shawn and I did noticed this a few weeks back, that's why I have 2 sets of shiny rap anchors at my place ready for those 2 routes. We decided on 2 comfortable locations that will keep climbers off those blocks... I just haven't been up there since to install them.

Not sure if you also noticed Chris that the route has already changed...the massive blocks that formed the right side of the chimney shifted over the winter. There might soon be a roof on 5.8 for style. It really is just a bunch of massive flakes/blocks.

Finally got to install the bolt anchors on Salt and Pepper and 5.8 for Style, they now have their own separate anchors so this should keep people off the questionable block.
