Is there any climbing walls, boulders or cliffs near Moncton?

Anyone in the Moncton area have a home woodie?

Oh man you are in the wrong town. Better take up Mtn biking or golf, better yet, sailing. Dan R skippers a nice J24 (so I hear, I've never seen it).

Here's an idea, get a bouldering wall on a sail boat, you'd have an ever changing angle and you'd get supper strong having to try to old on to those small jibs and sloppers while the boat is kicking the flowers of you. I guess it would confuse the grades: I climbed this V5 in 25knot seas.

he found a bunch of sandstone south of the city towards hilsborough. apparently some pretty good stuff...

We used to boulder on this sandstone CN bridge near Taylor Ford on Paul Street near the Wheeler Blvd. Pretty easy to find. We had created tons of problems on it. Tons of fun.

The new section of Moncton High can be bouldered as well.

We also bolted a route at Gordon Falls.

I have a small wall in my parents garage in moncton. We usually go there on thursday nights. Nothing great, but there's not much in moncton, and you can still get a good workout, and try some of our routes. You can join us if you like. Email me if interested.

I wouldn't say it's bolted but someone tested their bolting skills on the blocks there a long time ago. Like years ago.

Thanks everyone for the info!

I will have to check out some of these places, I have a access to a cottage in Eglin so maybe I'll have to check out Gordan Falls one day.

Last year I did some buildering around MTA campus (lots of sand stone building). Good way to spend my noon hours since I work there.

Dan - I'll be in touch with you sometime about trying some routes on your wall. How many routes do you have set on your wall?

there may also be some bouldering out at wood point outside sackville... just a guess, but i know i remember seeing rock out there (before my rock climbing days -- so i can't trust my memory of the rock quality)... might be worth checking out.

I thought about checking Rock Port which is near Wood Point... Figured if the name has Rock in it, might be a good chance that there is rock to climb.

I don't suspect there is much climing in Plaster Rock so that theory may not always be applicable. :wink:

Wasn't us. But me, Marc D and Eric M haven't lived in Moncton or climbed at the bridge for 3-4 years so who knows. Maybe the up and comers of Moncton Climbing

that would be the one. Oh well.

I haven't been on it for 5 years and don't remember bolts. I remember there being a few bolts up high but were probably placed by CN many, many years.

But who knows what goes in my head in my old age!

There a bolt up high on the sandstone bridge that's been there for at least 4-5 years. I had always though Dastous or eric had put that there? Ya never know, there's maybe more people out there?

there was that other phantom bolter from Moncton who added some bolts one summer on Up Up and Away in Welsford

There is lots of Sand stone building in Sackville..... 1/2 hour away!
Only bad thing is the sand stone is like a 80 grit piece of sand paper.. can do a number on your finger tips.

I would think that some of the churchs in Moncton that are sand stone might be good..

I driven by the CN bridge doesn't look to bad form a far... hoping to get a training session in there soon.

Guess if you get really desparate there is the Woodie in Cent. Park...

There is also the new gymnasium section on Moncton High. Good sandstone holds on it. Good fun. Go for the top out if you have a pad and spotter.

Easy to spot, it looks alot cleaner than the remainder of Moncton High. Sand coloured compared to the black sandstone of the rest.

I breifly checked out the CN bridge:
It's not to bad to play around on.... I enjoyed myself, the only thing you have to watch for is the drips of tar

Does anyone know where Gibson Falls are? Is this same place as Gordon Falls? Is there anything to top rope at Gordon Falls?

I think you could probably find some stuff to toprope at Gordon Falls but I don't think it would be very good. It's short and I don't know how good the rock is. You might have to belay from the top because the water runs right to the base of the cliffs in most places.

The Bridge is awesome. Just bouldering from one side to the other will definitely get you pumped and is much harder than it looks. Then again, I have climbed a total of like 10hrs in 6 years.

I have a small woodie. In my garage you perverts. I would love to meet some climbers in the area. I am so lonely

I would love to get back into climbing but can't get motivated because I am lazy and have no partner. I meant climbing associate not "partner" as in boyfriend. Man you guys are warped. The only reason I am on here tonight is because I just got the bug again after not climbing for ages. Feel free to contact me.

I remember the bolts being there ever since I started going to the bridge about ten years ago. Could be the soloist who bolted Centennial's wall.
