Hey guys,
I need to learn the basics of trad - aparently, my options for sport climbing here in NS are quite limited (who'd've thunk?) and bouldering just isn't the same. I'd prefer to take a course but a good reference/ manual might do the trick as well...
Suggestions anyone?

Freedom of the Hills has a lot of good info. If you are a sport climber I'd suggest you mentally prepare yourself because your grades are going to drop substantially. I would suggest climbing super easy routes at first (we're talkng 5.3) and filling full of as much gear as possible. The more you place the better. Not for protection but for experience.
I had to start over again when moving to NB from Albreta (the land of many bolts). I'm guessing you are in a similar boat. It's quite humbling/frustrating so try to enjoy the adventure that trad will add to your climbing.
