Vacationing from Calgary. Need partner(s) for Sport climbing

Postby Krft » Mon Jun 20, 2011 2:40 am

I'm vacationing from Calgary June 25th to July 5th. I'm staying in Lawrencetown Beach area. Looking for someone or a group to do some sport climbing. I don't know of many places around Halifax area except Musquodoboit. Was hoping someone would join me to take in some eastern climbing. I've been climbing for about 2-3 years but have only been climbing outdoors this year in the Rockies. Will be bringing my own gear. Lead belaying is a must.

If your looking for some fun, drop me a line.

You would be a brave soul to venture into the woods of musq. to go climbing this time of year. The bugs would be unbearable.
However, nearly everyone this time of year is bouldering by the ocean where the wind keeps the little blood suckers to a minimum. If your interested in bouldering with a crew, a group leaves every Monday night from the armdale rotary at 6:00pm. Lots of people come out, and new faces are always welcome.
If that's not your thing, you may be hard pressed to find a rope gun this time of year... but I know there are a couple locations to sport/trad climb on the ocean, but the only one I've been to that would be good for this time of year is Lorraine Head, and thats in Cape Breton. Perhaps Ship Rock, but I've never been.

Thanks for the response. I'll keep the bugs in mind. They haven't stopped me before. I'm heading out this weekend if anyone is interested and can brave the bugs. Bug spray? Might join in on bouldering monday too. If anyone would like to head out sport climbing, email me at tweakernest@yahoo.ca. I'm here until tuesday.

Somebody can tell me where the armdale rotary is?

A GPS location or civic adress, street name, anything...

Thanks!

Pete :)

The Monday Night Bouldering group meets in the parking lot of the St. James Anglican church at 2668 Joseph Howe Dr. It's like a little street that runs between Joseph Howe and St. Margarets Bay Rd. at the Armdale Rotary.
