Ice Season

Postby theriault » Wed Nov 03, 2010 8:14 am

For all those Ice nuts like me out there, I officially saw an ice smear on a road side cut this morning! Ice season is just around the corner! But There's still a LOTS OF ROCK left to climb this year!

I was in Renous yesterday and there was lots of ice formed on the roads and in streams during the morning.

Lucas and i spent a very cold day in at parlee, and managed to climbe three separate lines on the back wall. The ice was super thin with lots hanging death-sickles, and offered very difficult climbing. Definitely not leadable, if you care about your picks i'd wait a few weeks, if you have a new set in the closet then go make sparks.

I'm super stoked for ice season - glad to hear what Parlee's doing, thanks Cory and Lucas for hiking in.

Drove by Katahdin this morning and it was glowing with snow. What a mountain!

graham and i were in to parlee today and actually managed to lead 3 lines. All the kings horses had way more "rock" than ice and was a bit dicey. But the back wall lines had real ice and took normal screws. the ground is'nt frozen so the top of each line was interesting!

You can always take a jeep along that road!
You are, therefore I am. That is the question....

I dropped by Hampton Marsh Ice today. It's still out. Some icicles, nothing much formed for climbing.
