Winter Climbing Comp

[UNB Rock & Ice Club]

UNB Rock and Ice will again be hosting a friendly format bouldering competition during the weekend of the Banff Mountain Film Festival in Fredericton. A number of prises will be awarded for both men and women in beginner's, intermediate, and advanced categories. Along with registration fees we will be collecting donations to aid the Red Cross in their humanitarian relief efforts following the recent earthquake in Haiti. This will be a great weekend to come to Fredericton so we hope to see a good showing from Saint John, Moncton, Halifax, and everywhere else!

My apologies if this isn't the best place to post this. A few friends and I may be travelling up to NB to enter this winter comp. I've never been to an event there before, just curious as to the grouping of categorys. Is it like Beginner V0-V2ish, Inter. V3-V5ish, and Open all the hardcore folks? Just want to be in the right group for the best fun factor

Don't get bent out of shape worrying too much about the categories. You've got them basically sorted out correctly although there's always a few routes which are sandbagged and a few that are give-aways. We'll sometimes bump people up if they've obviously registered in the wrong category. Also important to note that there are always separate categories for the men and women. Looking forward to seeing you and your crew.

p.s. Don't forget to take in the Banff Mountain Film Festival while you are in town!

Thanks to the generosity of all those who donated last weekend at our competition and film festival the UNB Rock & Ice club was able to donate $225 to the Canadian Red Cross today. That money is sincerely needed for their ongoing relief efforts following the recent earthquake in Haiti. Cheers to our local climbing community.
