Falls Brook

Anyone been to Falls Brook this year??

As previous years I know little about ice - but I plan to be there possibly this up-coming weekend.

Given the very cold temps we've had over the last few weeks, I would guess that it is at least partially in. It usually has some open spots. If you've not climbed there before, bring LOTS of LONG anchor stuff. you'll need it.


Lots of water back there, but a beautiful place....in winter and summer!

Any word on if falls brook is in???

Oh yeah, I'd bet it's OK. It has a big flow that often keeps the center too wet, but the sides (mainly the left) are usually good. And it's been quite cold. Please let us know what you find if you go.

The actual water fall still has a lot of water flowing on the left. I couldn't get a great view from the top... The brook it self is is still open in places.
I did find some ice at the top of the falls that was in at the bottom and very thin at the top... nothing to write home about.

The waterfall is freezing slowly. Left side is leadable. Right side is aerated crappy ice. Center you can see on the photos. It was a nice day out though.

The road had been plowed before the last snowfall. There was ~15 cm of powder on top of it - Subie's AWD came handy.
