Yep... I almost fell off the top out grabbing at a handful of lichen earlier this year. The chimney was... memorable.

Yup, I'm flexible. and I love awkward trad routes.... a squeeze hole in Clifton comes to mind... John, Fred what was that route? witches something? ... it was a riot.

It is the dirty rock and the hollow sound of the chimney wall that throws me off.

Ride a cock horse - English history origins:

The lyrics of this nursery rhyme relate to Queen Elizabeth I of England (the fine lady) who travelled to Banbury (a town in England) to see the new huge stone cross which had just been erected. The lyrics 'With rings on her fingers' obviously relates to the fine jewellery which would adorn a Queen. The words 'And bells on her toes' refers to the fashion of attaching bells to the end of the pointed toes of each shoe! Banbury was situated at the top of a steep hill and in order to help carriages up the steep incline a white cock horse (a large stallion) was made available to help with this task. When the Queen's carriage attempted to go up the hill a wheel broke and the Queen chose to mount the cock horse to reach the Banbury cross. Her visit was so important that the people of the town had decorated the cock horse with ribbons and bells and provided minstrels to accompany her - "she shall have music wherever she goes". The big cross at Banbury was later destroyed by anti - Catholics.

Ya, so, I've been on Ride A Cock Horse twice. I was pretty nervous on it, as it was one of my first outdoor climbs. After all was said and done... the chimney was very fun as it was a new experience to twist around and around going up a chimney. Stepping across the chimney over to where you 'ride the horse' is a little awkward and 'fun'. Once you are on it, you gotta get off and step out very carefully onto a ledge on the main face. That was also 'fun' and then you had to balance with no holds, really until you were stood up. Finally coming up over the face onto a sloped ledge with a tree anchor is great fun.

I really liked this route. It was like stepping out of a tall building's windows onto the stone ledge, but then scaling up to the next window. All this after having been riding a ... rock cock horse. lol.

I'd do it again if it was cleaner.
