kayak rentals to Dover Island, boudering near Indian Harbour

Hello,

I am heading to Indian Harbour for a friend's wedding. Was hoping to do a bit of bouldering but couldn't find any kayak rentals online to rent a boat to paddle to Dover Island. I did see the post about contacting the blacksmith (thanks!)

Was wondering if....
- there is any bouldering at Indian Harbour?
- any beta on renting a kayak? I have pretty limited time, arrive in Halifax ~ 6 am Fri Oct 2 and have to get to the wedding rehearsal by 3 pm

You can rent kayaks from MEC downtown halifax if you are a MEC member. Also check out East Coast Outfitters in Terrence Bay http://www.eastcoastoutfitters.net/

MEC is your cheapest bet.

Or you can climb the other thousand problems in the LOC which is on the mainland between West Dover and Indian Harbour. Pick up the halifax bouldering guide at MEC. Fall is prime time for the Land Of Confusion, getting caught in a big swell near Dover is also Prime this time of year.

Years ago I read an article about a man-made kayak park with a conveyor system. Has this park been built yet? The water entry point was elevated so you would ride the man-made river down until reaching a pool at the bottom. Then, a large belt conveyor system would carry you and the kayak back up to the entry point. You would not have to get out of the kayak. I read this years ago in a magazine, but I misplaced the magazine and can't remember any details.

Yeah, CNS installed one of those in Mosquodoboit, right next to the chairlift that bypasses the talus approach to First Face.
