Awesome Shawn, I love 'think pure thoughts' and would love to have that cleaned.

Not sure what I want to clean... so many choices..... I'd happily take some route that just needs done but no one else wants to do.

Exfoliated for sure needs some cleaning. I'd be happy to do chocolate eclaire. it is a pretty nice route at a moderate grade that would probably get more traffic if it weren't so fuzzy. Fred did a big chunk of it just by getting the trees off the bottom!

The UNB Rock and Ice club is going to pitch in and cover the cost of brushes. This is a great idea. Can someone give me a line on where to get the best tools for the job?

There is only one brush for cleaning routes. It's called "The Brush" and it's available from Princess Auto for only $1.99. Out performs the $5 wire brushes 10:1 hands down and reverses as a nut tool for cleaning cracks. Usually they only have a few in store so mail order would be the sure way to get a batch of them.

Yeah this bad boy kicks ass. The only thing you have to watch out for is the handle will slide off after using it for a while. This is not good when you are 60 feet off the deck. I could pick some up for the club the next time I am at Princess Auto if you like. Let me know how many you want.

p.s. Good idea re: choclate eclair. I totally passed on it earlier this year despite having heard glowing reviews. Ever seen the legs from a 1980's east-German woman's wrestler? It looked kinda worse than that.

I suspect that the Club could get a 'corporate' or 'wholesale' rate if they tried pretty please with cherries on top. One of the exec should just call moncton and find out.

Wholesale??? We're talking $40 in brushes aren't we, not buying for North American distribution. You'd likely end up spending more money in long distance calls than 20% you might save on brushes.

Regarding the brushes: 1) Save yourself a trip to Moncton. Those (and a stainless steel version -which I've been using for 3 years on countless routes and is still like new!) are available at NAPA auto parts, which there is in Freddy. The Atlantic distribution centre is in Moncton, so offer free next day delivery to your nearest location. Should be no problem to get 20. 2) I dropped a dollop of one-minute epoxy (from the dollar store) down a couple of the handle holes and remedied the separation issue.

Thanks Cory... I'll check out NAPA. I think we'll buy perhaps double what we need given how cheap they are. That's way less than I expected.

Fred, either you or I should clean the overhang-reindeerland linkup we did a few weeks back. It was quite dirty but was very fun climbing.
