gov'n'r giv'n'r

Postby motanb » Thu Aug 20, 2009 8:36 am

I got on this route yesterday (tr) and worked the moves. I 've got the beta now and hope to rp soon. I gotta say, it's a great climb with hard moves!! Long reaches and spicy crimps!

I think that this route is roughly the same difficulty as Ra. Who other than PJ has rp'd this climb??

Also, I got on Victory Cabbage again; I really like this climb! Fun moves! One of my favorite 10's in Welsford.

I don't know about gov'n'r'giv'n'r but I rp'd victory cabbage last week finally. I agree, it's a nice technical route with some thoughtful footwork required. I'd give it two stars in the next guide. I'm not exactly loosy-goosy with my stars either. At a similar grade, quantum theory is even better but a bit different style.

AFAIK, only PJ has rp'd it. I got it on toprope before i bolted it but it's so crimpy i have not attempted the rp yet. yes, prob about the same diff as Ra... within a letter grade anyway.

I climbed Victory Cabbage tonight... sweet route! Very technical.

What are the other two new routes left of Rebell Yell. The one on the right 5.10a? was pretty sweet.
I want to go to hell... there's probably lots of rock to climb there.

I believe in order left to right they are:

Smells like Rain, Tastes like Chicken - 5.10a *
Awe - 5.10a **
Rebel Yell - 5.9

The stars are my own opinion of course. Adam can confirm the routes.

ok that makes more sense... I thought Smells Like Rain had been graded 5.8 so was a bit surprised. Felt easier technically than AWE but was way more pumpy. AWE is a nice route.

On Victory Cabage at the top, is the left sidepull / vertical rail just left of the chain part of the route? Otherwise it's a hard move to a sloppey lip.

Agreed SLRTLC is pumpy... I nearly whipped yarding for the top-out ledge a few weeks ago. I was drained. Also, I really like Awe, cool moves in the upper corner breaking back right to the face.

As for VC, Adam and I talked about that rail last time we were there. It would seem to me that its use does not take you in the straitforward, natural path. It was not intended as in... but hey... routes change I guess. The crimpy moves are more fun anyway.
