Gunks TR Lite

Postby *Chris* » Tue May 26, 2009 8:11 am

Back from the Gunks. Great crag. Exposed lines and solid climbing for the grades. Here's what we (Burley and I) did:

Roseland :D -to-Gelsa link
Horseman
Laurel
Rhodadendron
Ken's Crack
Frog's Head
High Exposure
Bonnie's Roof 8)

I know that list seems short but it felt like a lot at the time!

Here's a few pics:

Not a bad list. Only get one day of climbing in?
Great pics. Except the one of the butt with the butt. He's a super safe and solid climber yet puffs away his life. :) Hi E is a bit exposed huh? Denise had an "O" moment on it. Imagine doing that in the 1930's with their equipment and not knowing what was to come.

Ha Ha... what can I say ;) It isn't an everyday thing, but yes I do it on occasion.

We got about 2.5 days in. Heat/Sun was a killer for us. Everyone did great and had a wicked trip.

Burley... Want me to make you a sandwich? LOL. Sheesh. Rosie is a nice girl and all...but man... if she doesn't feed you.....

High E was fun. I didn't find it scary, but just fun. Bonnies roof however.... I didn't even get on it. LOL. In a crying fit of 4 months pregnant and getting scared looking up at the damn thing.... I chose to sit on the ground. Yeah. I'm tough.

Nice tick list,

Looking at the picture of Henni on High E, looks muggy as hell.

I miss the gunks.

Ah, the famous Gunks road trip.

Here's a description of a road trip from same time of year, but eight years ago (before I was uber-ripped, right Martha?):

http://www.tradgirl.com/areas/ny/gunks/olddudes.shtml
A monk asked Quiglin Shiqian, "What is a person who has realized the Way?"
Quiglin said, "Embracing the ice and snow, head and eyebrows held high."

And I seem to recall that Thom lost his egg & bacteria breakfast on the first pitch of Frog's Head ....

You might find it amusing to know that it has since become well-solidified and can now be slung as natural (I suppose semi-natural) pro.

Ah, tradgirl. I'm sure I must have read that TR before, back when I was getting really serious about climbing I'm sure I digested the entire site.

Isn't that just like Fred, to insert the rolling eyes on Martha's post, after the fact!
