Big Wall training at Sunnyside

Postby Rosie » Tue May 19, 2009 10:43 am

I meant to post these a while ago. Erick and Adam set up Erick's portaledges on Darkside wall at Sunnyside about three weeks ago for some big wall practice:

Adam slept in the BD double (red), and Erick in the Fish single (black).

Gotta say, it was pretty comfortable alone in a 2man... I slept like a baby.

One thing though - I don't recommend setting it up for the first time, in the dark, with a headlight that needs new batteries... after a couple beer. Then again, I work best under pressure.

Takes a bit to get used to standing up and moving around, but all in all it was a success.

Set up on the belay for Ascent up to Asgard. You are only 80' off the ground but is feels like several hundred since the ground slopes away. You can see the lights of Grandbay at night. Very cool place to sleep.
You are, therefore I am. That is the question....

Thanks for the idea Steve. I'll plan on that for the weekend.
