after nearly 20 months sans climbing....I know! crazy eh? That's what happens when you get knocked up at the end of one climbing season and have a baby in the middle of the next one... leaves you pretty well SOL until the NEXT year! yeeesh...

anyways, Fred and I and the kids got out today and I have a few things to say...aside from the fact that I fell in love all over again!

Thank you Sunshine
Thank you Market coffee and donair
Thank you steep trail for the reminder that I need to see you more often
Thank you Pass the Moonshine for being so old and comfortable.
Thank you Sweet Potato Pie for letting me whoop it up and touch your crack.
Thank you Blackflies for being dumb. (though I know next week you'll be much smarter, and hungry)
Thank you Montezuma's Revenge for being gentle and not making fun
Thank you body for being strong
Thank you Irving for apres Climbing Chips
Thank you Shower

And last but not least...

Thank you Wine and Advil.

And of course...thanks to Rosie, Jon and emma for climbing (and belaying) and hanging with the kids too. :)

Thanks Rosie. I'll be glad when I get over the 'flash pumps' though. guess that means I need to get out more! Unfortunately I think that bug season will keep us away from family climbing days. :( ah well... .July will be here soon enough!

Sounds like you guys had an awesome time. You think the kids will pick up the climbing bug sometime?

Marie-France loves it. We are getting her a harness this week. Given that she is only 3 and a bit, she is doing really well with all the hiking in and hanging out all day. Her feet are still too small even for the smallest climbing shoes available but by next summer they should be big enough. She'll just have to climb in her Keen sandles all summer. :)

Maxime is nearly 10.5 months and can't contain himself in one place. Yesterday in Sunnyside we stood him by the edge of the cliff and he scooted along checking it out along the way. won't be long and he'll be walking.. I figure that is a good first step towards climbing! LOL

another few years until they are heavy enough to belay though. *sigh*

You can always do what Dad did and resole her regular shoes with 5.10 rubber

If you don't want to resole the Fisher Price shoes, try this:

Well, her keen's are vibram soles... so not stealth rubber....but not bad for a 3 year old. :)

I love the duct tape idea. I wonder how many rolls I'd need to get Fred all done up like that so I can go out and play?! 8)

Just take the number of rolls you use when you stay home and play, and double it.
