Icefest

Icefest will be on Saturday, Feb 14 at Ministers Face. Same as usual, climb all day and potluck/slideshow at Steve Adamsons afterwards. That means bring food and photos! Email me at "the(dot)kennedys(at)rogers(dot)com" if you need more specifics. Joe

Is it still at Minister's Face, or are we going to Mt Misery instead?

Yeah, I was thinking about having it at Mt. Misery. We can get at least 8 top-ropes up, and the routes are pretty short so more people can climb. And if the sun's out, it's alot warmer. The only downside is that we'd have to drive to Steve's instead of walking there directly after climbing. People can still go to Ministers Face if they wish.

I'll second the vote for minister's. Just seems to me like we'd get a better turn out at the house that evening if we were at minister's

Frankly I'd rather Ministers Face too because the climbs are longer, but everyone has a voice. So everyone, please send in your vote for where the Icefest should be, Ministers Face or Mt. Misery.

So the Icefest will be at Ministers Face this Saturday, followed by a potluck at Steves. Steve says the admission is a slideshow, so bring along something good. To get there, take the Rothesay exit (#137 I think) and drive down to the Rothesay Yacht Club - see map below. See you there.

yep, still on for Saturday. A few days of warm won't hurt the river. It just melts the snow off the top and makes for better walking

A couple weeks ago the river ice at Pont Rouge seemed a little suspect so we just roped up similar to doing a glacier crossing.

Hey Adamsonses,
I heard you had a drill. I wasn't able to grab one from the club here in Fred but if you can bring yours, I was thinking of putting bolts on the line just left of the ice tomorrow. Would make a good mixed line I think. I believe the bolts are 3/8". Do you have a bit for those? i got them from Matt Peck.

Icefest was very successful this weekend, with around 40 people present, including a keen group from Nova Scotia. We had 5 topropes that were constantly active right until sundown, and a mixed (rock) line that Peabody determinedly worked on. A pack of dogs at the base kept the climbers entertained, but it was pleasantly peaceful when they left. A big thanks to Steve and Darlene for again opening their house for the slideshow/supper. Lots of great food and shows, with Chuck's Climbing Comedy the "main feature". Hopefully we'll do it again next year, same place same time. Put it on your calender.
