Ice in the quarry

Is there any ice in the quarry in Bedford?

I'm in town with ice gear

Shannon: Have a look and let us know. Seems unlikely, but the weather has been weird. Peter

Quiglin said, "Embracing the ice and snow, head and eyebrows held high."

Hey peter how are you? Will hopefully get a chance to climb the season. I think I'm being storm chased tomorrow. May try victoria park on our way home.

Would anyone be able to give me directions to said quarry? Would it be a good place to go for an evening climb by headlamp?

The MGRS coordinates to the parking spot for the quarry are: 20T MQ 50770 55766. I’d recommend typing them into Google Earth (you’ll have to convert them to Latitude Longitude first – this can be done at http://www.arsitech.com/mapping/mgrs/) and then clicking on the directions option. This will enable you to get step-by-step directions from a starting point of your choice to the Bedford Quarry. From the parking spot, you’ll be able to see rock cliffs that are about 300 m away (look northwest). Head towards them and you’ll find the ice. I’m sure if you’re hardcore enough you’ll be able to get away with climbing at night with a headlamp. Also, if you’re looking for a climbing partner I’d be up for it (I like to think I’m hardcore enough myself).

Yeah Veronica – impressive photos! You’re quite the photographer (and I’m not just saying that because I’m in them).

And that's not easy to do with boots that imply: "it's a girl"

If you think that's not easy, you should try ice climbing in heels!
