Postby Guest » Thu Mar 24, 2005 12:34 pm

Looks like the weekend is going to be a nice one..

Anyone know the conditions in Welsford? Is the rock Wet? Is there much snow in the woods?

What areas would be best for rock climbing this time of year?

Conditions are pretty good - snow is fairly packed on trails so easy walking. Pyramid and Minke are dry... don't know about others.

Joes Garage and L-shape should be dry, except for some snow on ledges perhaps. We climbed there on Feb 5th when there was a ton of snow, so now with all the warm temps and sun they should be great. The far right side of Upper Tier gets a lot of sun and has some nice lines too.

Exfoliated will be wet without a doubt.

I'm going tomorrow so will post an update tomorrow evening in case you aren't going until Saturday or Sunday.

cheers

Welsford is in fine shape.

We climbed on Joes and Lshape yesterday. the rock is wet at the bottom of the cliff in places, and is seeping in places, but for the most part, it is dry.

The hike is still snowy, but another day or two of sun, and we'll have 'skating rink' the entire way.

Lots of snow at the base of the cliff. And from what I could see, other walls were also dry. With the exception of Exfoliated and Waterfall wall of course.

Rock Season has begun.
