Halifax Buildering

I was playing around at Point Pleasant Park yesterday on the Prince of Wales tower (you know, the big round one) and it's got some fun, crimpy, potentially highball boulder problems on it.

Has anyone put up any lines there? Is it even a boulder problem if it's a building?

Also, I'm wondering what some other inconspicuous buildering projects there might be down here on the peninsula. I don't really feel like running from cops and campus security so I guess that means public property only.

There is all kinds:

The wall that makes up the parade square- barrington street. Anywhere on Dalhousie Campus to name a few. The wave downtown is a buildering problem.

Hey Mick,

Someone mentioned it above, but the bedford wall does have some cool features. I wussed out of topping it out though, as it had no obvious downclimb, and the rock was chossy and greasy.

I never knew anyone else had ever thought to do it or not, but it was on my UPS route back when I worked there, and eventually I had to give it a try. I attached a few pictures of it for anyone interested.

Luke, is that bridge buttress worth putting shoes on for?
I run by it a couple times of week and the thought crossed my mind but it feels sandy and chossy to me! Maybe I should try it?

In the city, Martello Tower has long been my favourite. Never had an interest in going up though, Mick - just traversing. Fantastic crimps, eh?

The building's gone now and headbands are no longer popular.......crimping never goes out of style tho' !!!

You're quite the style icon! White short shorts, white tank-top, white headband, and are those sticky rubber high top shoes? Are they bright neon by any chance? I bet if you dug real deep you'd still have that outfit kicking around somewhere. You should defiantly break it out.

Hey Jeffy, We've been wondering how your summer has gone - do fill us in!

Yup, my innate sense of fashion started early on and, as you know, continues to this day.
The shot is B&W so to my credit I think I may have been working with some yellow instead of just an all-white ensemble - puh-lease!?!. The shoes would've been La Sportiva Megas --- hot pink and neon blue -- low cuts. Tyler (belaying) had the purple high top Mariachers - my vote for the ugliest shoe ever!!

SMU and Dal campuses are great; and pretty much every public (or private, I suppose) school in the city has at least a few challenging lines. I just saw a gnarly problem on Sackville St. last night, close to the corner with Dresden Row that will have to go down soon.

But like Scott said: imagination is what really governs your chances of finding a sweet buildering problem. Nearly every building has at least some climbable feature and it's up to you to find it.

That said, I'd like a copy of that dal guide too please. (Pm's gwa)

haha! Sean, I love that picture!! holy crap man.
yeah, the bridge buttress is sandy and greasy, but the features were cool enough to make it worth a short visit. there are even some small pockets! If you ever want to take a rope there, I would feel better about attempting the whole thing. PM me if your interested. You gotta wear that headband though.
