E-Gads......no more

Postby chameleon » Sun Nov 02, 2008 9:15 pm

E-Gads has been a long-standing open project in the E-Gully at Main Face since the early 90s. Originally scrubbed and partially bolted by Sean Willett, the route has drawn interest from climbers for many years, but no action---no action that is until Ghislain Losier abandoned Cordless and became "His Cordness".

Today, Zig sent the rig on his first lead (I think) - after working it a few times on TR (?) and bolting it on his previous visit. Nice one Zigmeister!!! It's got 7 shiny new bolts and a new name. Details to follow....

Thanks for the props Cassinator.

I'm calling it "Splitting Coins" due to the size of the holds and I believe it deserves a grade of 5.13a. It's really good and it is well bolted so no worries there.

It was so cold I didn't think I could even try it. But after one TR warmup on it I lead it first go.
My friend Karel who belayed me had been on this route 15 years ago when Sean Willet was around working it.

Looks like we still have a few more nice days to get out on a rope. Let's do it!

One of the most aesthetic lines in the province in my opinion, a relatively long history and now the hardest route in the Musqudoboit valley - nice send Zig!

Well done Zig. Can't claim Thom and I did that one in boots and a backpack. (But we thought about it.)
A monk asked Quiglin Shiqian, "What is a person who has realized the Way?"
Quiglin said, "Embracing the ice and snow, head and eyebrows held high."
