Well Matt - it's funny 'cause we were just talking ice last night...here's hoping that we can get out to Parlee in early December like last year!

The leaves are starting to change and the days are getting noticably shorter.

well, maybe we'll get out the first week of November like Fred and I did about 5 seasons ago!

But honestly, I'm with Fred... I'm looking forward to a nice fall of climbing.. hopefully until the end of October or later!

Now Fred - I wasn't wishing away the fabulous fall rock season - just getting mentally prepared for the Ice season (always something to look forward to after all)....

My mental preparation for ice is a simple three question process.

1. Is it too cold to rock climb? yes
2. Do I want to ice climb? no
3. What else could I do better today? probably nothing

If there is an easy out at question 3 I usually take it. And judging by the amount of rock I climbed this summer I'm predicting a very low count for ice days for moi this winter.

Yep, totally serious. I'll take the freeze up any day.
It's been a wierd summer for me too Fred, Not getting out very much with the weather being what it is. It's certainly having a negitive effect on my motivation.
My qualification for Ice climbing is more like:
1)Is it too cold for a partner to rock climb?
2)Am I sick and tired of crimping?
3)Why am I not living in Canmore?
You can't take the sky from me.
