Monday Night Bouldering Series, Week 12: Polly's Cove

Postby SteveDave » Thu Aug 14, 2008 10:18 am

Hey guys, I know we've been to Polly's twice so far this summer, so I'm going to leave this one slightly open ended. If we can come to some sort of agreement about an alternative spot then I'm all for visiting it instead. I'd really prefer a coastal spot though, considering the experience we had last week at the LoC! I can see where they got the 'confusion' part from! Even my shirt has grass stains..

Alright. So the meeting spot, for those of us who aren't familiar with this scene, is at the red brick church on the Armdale Rotary. We meet every monday before 6pm, and leave at six sharp.

Here is an arrow pointing to that exact spot.

And here are directions to Polly's Cove, starting with the LoC. Credits to Zig and his bouldering guide.
The fastest way to reach LOC from Halifax is to take route 333. It will take you roughly a 1/2 hour. If you're coming from highway 102, follow signs for Peggy's Cove. In West Dover the road will take a very sharp right turn, there will then be two small two-car pull-outs on your left immediately after the baseball field.

Polly's
Drive past the ball diamond in West Dover and you will see a 4-5 car gravel pull-off on your left 800m further. The pull-off is on the blind crest in the middle of a right hand turn. Just before the pull-off, there is an "Adopt a Highway" sign on the right side of the road. Be vigilant as this pull-off is hard to see until you are on top of it. There is a telephone pole in the front of the pull-off.

So yeah, if it doesn't rain (and the forecasters aren't calling for it, thankfully) we'll hopefully see you all out there! Word.

I will not be taking on the responsibility of leading a crew to bug city tonight... been there twice last week and am itching for some bouldering. Is the group still heading to Polly's?

Sounds like it will be decided at the rotary...

May I suggest you get there first and just tell everyone where we're going? :P

I'm going to be late tonight - car trouble leaves me without mobility until around 6.

Can someone text my phone (4416062) and let me know where people have decided to go tonight?

Hope things get off the ground tonight. Excuse the pun. :P
