looking for long ice climbs in ns over 100+

Moose River n' Cape D'or
There's lots of stuff in the vacinity of 100' on the Bay of Fundy.

Why +100'?

been climbing in rockies last 15 years . something little longer then i can find on the bay.

Discombobulator 4+ or 5, It's a 200'+ bute in Cape D'or. I don't think it's been climbed since the early 90's. It's around 1 or 2kms eastwards of the cove (Halfmoon Cove??) on the coastline. It's best to follow the skidoo trail east rather than try engaging the beach. The skidoo trail is about 1/2 way down the long hill, once you start heading down toward the cove, on the lighthouse road.
Be wary of the tides.

Moose River's got a couple 150' routes, along with lots of various other cool stuff, all contained in a really sweet canyon. It's usually an ordeal tryng to find it.

Nova Scotia is not known for epic multipitch grade 5's. The ice scene here is more of a get out and climb type atmosphere. There's some fun stuff to be had, and some good people to meet along the way.

Nice pics though. I'm sure there's some former Nova Scotia surfer posting pics somewhere in Alberta, wishing he was back on the waves. What's a poor boy to do????

You are correct, Mike....the ice in NS is quality, steep and easy to get to !...and, when you are 10 foot above that last dodgy screw, the route is ALWAYS high enough !

Went up Glen Coe today, 2 hr walk in (3000' ascent) 30 mins of postholing to the bottom of the route, then 1 hr of frozen turf & questionable torque placements...give me roadside ice-cragging any day !

man those photos could be anywhere. I'd say: judging by the size of the hills and the wild colors they are in Cape Breton.

gforce, have you climbed any of these routes you posted? The Pilsner Pillar is nice and fat this year. wi6 as usual.

climbed them all two or three times . not this year been in in the north this year.Going back to ns in feb 4 a bit try out the ice there.

If any of you are heading out ice climbing in NS, would you mind if I came along? I've been climbing for a couple years and have yet to see Ice Climbing in action. I'd love to see it down and try it if I could. I'll bring a bottle of scotch to warm us up on the walk out.
