Falls Brook

We were in to Falls Brook today for swimming and to pick up our ice screws from last season.

I don't know what the set-up was before Irving owned the land but the gate is up and you have to pay $10 to get in. Seems like Irving is pinching pennies a bit.

The 10$ is a bit of a pain in the butt, but the swimming hole is nice and the scenery is beautiful. On a hot day like yesterday, it was just what the doctor ordered.

Definately worth a go for anyone looking for a new swimming hole.

Irving just bought land from Bowater recently but the $10 access fee has been in place for years. Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if it is eventually permenantly closed to the public as this is the case on much of the Irving's private land (especially scenic places and/or places -w- salmon fishing).

Govn't had a chance to purchase the land over the last two years but didn't have the cash... too bad... falls brook is a nice place.

I guess we didn't know about the 10$ because we have always gone in the winter when there is no one in the booth at the road head.

Yes, Falls brook is a beautiful spot. It would be sad to see access to it disappear for both ice climbing and hiking/swimming etc.
