I'm sorry to say this but it looks like there is a chance the King's Landing roadside ice may get demolished for the new highway. The new right of way is definitely going through there but I duno if the cliff will remain as a buffer between the East-bound and West-bound lanes. Regardless, if there is only a small plateau at the top, it won't likely be sufficient to collect enough water to feed the massive ice flows that we are used to. This is a tragic moment in NB climbing history. What are we to do?

First tunnels (death traps) under the Saint Laurent River and now this?

Sweet, less ice climbing; We could celebrate!

This is a sad day indeed. We should mourn the passing of a solid NB ice test piece. At 5 metres tall and a solid grade 2 (maybe 1+ on fat years), this climb has seen more than a few seasoned veterans get their ass spanked on these fabolous flows.

The last time I went road-side ice climbing on the (then) new highway, we got shut down by a passing maintenance crew who informed us that we were trespassing.

Too bad about Tweedle Dum & Tweedle Dee (I think that's what they were called), they were fun to solo.

I've never been shut down while climbing there but we always get lots car honks and beeps.
