where do you mean by area 31? accross from the cell tower?

Joe,

after talking to John... I think you mean area 41 accross from the cell phone tower. Chris and Adam have developed several sport as well as trad climbs on this cliff which they have called "Sunnyside". They have a login book at the cliff with route info.

Yea, Sunnyside, that's it. I'll check out the sign-in book, but I'd just like some basic directions on how to find the damn place. No sense developing something if no one can find it.

it's easy to find the trail

When you leave the Irving head toward Fredericton. Past the golf course on the right, park at the cell phone tower driveway. Cross the road. At the LEFT end of the guiderail look for a faint trail in the bushes. Don't worry, the trail opens up and is easy to follow once you get past the 6ft of alder bushes.

went to Sunnyside this weekend to climb a little and get the guidebook info. The routes are pretty sweet. I'll definitely go back. Nice work Adam, Chris et al.

Sorry but I'll only be sharing the typed info and topo I gathered in the new guidebook coming out this spring (hopefuly). In the meantime, the trail is easy to find based on my above description and all routes are included in the sign-in book at the cliff. Pretty easy to find your way around.

NOTE: the signin book is on hiatas.... the wind and rain on saturday night, in conjunction with the curiosity and nibbling teeth of a small rodent, has resulted in a very, very wet sign-in book.

i think regardless of drying this one out properly, i will place a new sign-in book complete with topo at sunnyside asap. stay tuned...

Adam,

Would it not be a good idea to build a small box like on Cochrane Lane and strap it to a tree so that rodents would't get in and it would stay dry? It could be kept in a dry bag stil , but inside the box.

yup it's a good idea. and hindsight is 20/20. i'm going to put the same dry bag back up there but tack it to a tree so it can't fall to the ground. also will fix the hole with some silicone or something.

where did you get that photo?

Is there a way to get zoomed arials for the following:

-Welsford (4 crags)
-Greenlaw
-Chickahominy
-Hampton Marsh
-Gondola Point

I'd love to have those for the guidebook in high res.

Yes... most of southern NB was captured in either 2003 or 2004 with high res digital images. I should be able to help out. The quality in the real images is quite a bit better than the compressed example I posted for sunnyside.

The Sunnyside trail is located between the little green 60 and 61 km markings signs on the highway (if that helps?). I've been meaning to post this months ago... We were out there today and I got on my first sport lead (Superstar 5.7) it was awesome!!!

I would always drive past the cell phone tower road, forgetting where it was. Then I started looking at the Km markings knowing I had "x" number of kilometers to go. I know a cell phone tower should be pretty obvious, but I always missed it...

The trail isn't exactly obvious even in person. Basically park at the communication tower parking lot and cross the street to the side irving is on and follow the guard rail back towards irving until it ends and go into the ditch and enter the woods. There is a opening. Follow the trail.

Not an exact science. I found it with less info than that.
