Mat's tip of the day:

Call now and book rooms at the Hostel that is downtown.

If Mitch laughs at us for ice climbing he'll bust a gut if he saw you winter camping AND ice climbing. I'd have to laught WITH him on that one.

Winter camping + ice climbing! I'd have to agree with Mat, I would be busting a gut.. except just *thinking* about it makes me so cold I can't stop shivering. With that setup, you might not get warm for days! Forgive them father, they know not what they do.

Hey Martha,

How do you know Jeremy Bourassa? I guess i'm giving him a lift up there.

Anyone competing in the amateur competition?

Cara:

I am going for sure. Flying seems to be too difficult/expensive to arrange. I have stayed in (one of) the hostels downtown before, and it was just fine. That is my plan for accomodation. Camping?! I am too old for that, though I would do it if required.

I would prefer to not take too much time off work, as I want to save for another trip next month. Like to arrive in Quebec maybe to climb a little on Friday, and be back home for work on Monday. Night driving is my usual method of maximizing climbing time. I could get myself to Fredericton, or somewhere like that, if there is then somewhere safe I can leave my car (or if we then use it to car pool).

Tell me when and where for car pooling, and then I can book a room at the hostel.

I talked to him last night. I think he still needs a bit of convincing... Get to it!

I'll be bringing him for his first ice climbing outing on Sunday. Should be fun!

Cara, your birthday drinks are on me.

Listen, being as you know, a kind of older, organized, working guy, I just couldn't sit around any longer, waiting for all you young folk to make decisions, and I had to book the time off work, and I scrapped up some aeroplan points, so ...

I am flying to Quebec, and will be there Thursday lunch time. I will book a bunk in the hostel on Ste-Ursule, and we can meet either there or at the Friday night event.

The hostel link is : http://www.hihostels.ca/hostels/Quebec/ ... index.html

Make a reservation.

I am looking for a climbing partner for the Friday, Chutes Montmorency or the Pont Rouge area, or somewhere else close to the city. Anyone interested?

Peter,

Pat Keller is going up on Thursday night as far as I know and he will be looking for a partner as soon as he gets there. It is also possible that others will be going up on Thursday night too.

I'll let you know when the rest of us are arriving too.

thanks for the beers!!!

woohoo!

cara

I'm pretty sure there is still room at the hostel and it's walking distance from the pubs in vieux Quebec.
I want to go to hell... there's probably lots of rock to climb there.
