Kate wants the 'beta' on the bugs.... I'll bet cause she can't wear any bug dope.

I went for citronella last year and it worked pretty good!! :) Not as good as deet.. but better than nothing!

Yeah, unfortunately all this rain translates into prime breeding grounds for all those blackflies. All that marshy area around sorrows is a festering pot of procreation for billions of bugs....... and just when you think it's safe cause it's sunny out and it would be a great day to hit the crag......they decide to hatch. I was on a river system around parrsboro on sunny canada day and was eaten alive by blackflies, never seen it worse, and I've had some epic blackfly days in terence bay, took a week to recover.

well, we managed an afternoon of climbing unscathed. on the hike in we were swarmed by deer flies, and on the hike out we were attacked by black flies and mosquitoes - BUT it was windy enough at the crag that we were bugfree for climbing/belaying! thanks everyone for the beta on the bugs.

I think blackflies breed in running water and mosquitos breed in stagnant water?
I want to go to hell... there's probably lots of rock to climb there.
