For all you Google Earth Addicts

Postby tracstarr » Fri Mar 17, 2006 1:58 pm

so i've got a network link created to view all the climbing locations in NS through google earth. This info is stored on my website and google earth reads it. It's still a work in progress and only has a handfull of locations, but the beauty is that once you create the link in google earth you just hit refresh and all the new stuff will show up.

here's the link to download the google earth link item. open it from google earth and you're done.

let me know what you think.

i'm working on a method to allow you to add locations from either the web site itself and/or from google earth. i'm also trying to figure out how to populate a google map to be displayed on the web for those who don't use google earth.

updated. I've started to add paths to the boulders and climbing areas along with interest points and other information. I'm also shading in areas that have been searched. It's all a work in progress. You don't need to download the file again, just refresh the connection.

Thanks pretty awsome man. Seeing the paths is great instead of having to follow a faint game trail.

I like how you added G's Pizza.

I don't know if you can do it. But It might be cool to have one of those little Word Ballons popup with the LAt Long or UTM for the trailheads so you could input them into a GPS. Or things like directions on where to Park etc.
