New at climbing :) Any areas around St-Andrews, NB?

Postby xtrem » Sun Mar 05, 2006 8:04 pm

Hi!

I am so happy, I've got an awesome job this summer :D I will be working as a naturalist with Quoddy Link, in St-Andrews, NB. I went to St-Andrews a few time, but I come from Quebec.

I have recently started climbing and I love it! Is there any areas around St-Andrews where I could practice (outdoors)? Also, is there any climbing gym or wall (indoors)? Anyone looking for a partner for this summer/Fall in St-Andrews area (from june until November) :D ?

I am also an avid mountain biker (cross country & downhill) :D I also enjoy hiking, camping, kayaking, swimming, etc. Anything outdoors suits me ! So if any of you would like to show me around the area, I'll be more than happy :) :D :D

P.S. I would also go hike Mt. Katahdin in Maine, since it is somewhat near St-Andrews. Anyone interested?

Thanks!

You can find out climbing information on Fred's Site: http://www.beta-source.com/

If you are going to be in St Andrews it won't be too hard to find outdoor activities. I got nothing right now other than a few of us are planning a trip to Mt Khatadin and Mt Washington

X-trem as Chris mentioned Beta-source will give you info on outdoor climbing. There is a small indoor wall at the community college, and I believe they are doing some renovations on it during this week. I'm not sure what the hours are so you'll have to ask around. If you have trouble getting info send me a PM and I'll set you up with people who can help you out.

Good luck and perhaps I'll see you down in St. Andrews over the summer

Greenlaw Mt. in St Andrews has some nice short sport climbs. All bolted. Easy hike in. Free. Fred's site should have a guidebook and directions.

Hey there,

I live near St. Andrews, and always looking for folks to go climbing with...

I'm traveling at the moment - but will be back near the end of March.
