bolts

Postby Fred » Fri Mar 10, 2006 8:41 am

we now know why MEC was clearing their FIXE bolts. They are now carrying HILTI 3/8 stainless again. I suspect they can get a better bulk price or something like that. Nothing to do with bad bolts.

but the reason I'm posting is... People often wonder how tight to install these things. And with the recent issue in Nova Scotia with loose bolt hangers I thought I would post this info. When you read the spec for the new Hilti KB3 bolts at MEC, the manufacturer installation recommendation is, finger tight and then 2.5 to 3 full turns of the nut to tighten.
I want to go to hell... there's probably lots of rock to climb there.
