Epic Rescue off El Cap

Check out this rescue from Yosemite. Keep reading to the pictures on the 2nd page. That takes serious balls on the part of the heli crew. Nicely done.

YOSAR's report was excellent. A good explaination of what happened and lessons learned. The fall was probobly pretty close to a factor 2, though the gear ripping may have absorbed some of the force.
It looks like he was wearing one of those super light weight Petzl Meteor helmets. Looks like it did its job (its like a bike helmet, supossed to break to absorb force). Glad he wasn't one of those people that are too "cool" to wear a helmet.

Yep... fell onto his anchor after ripping gear from about 40' above. Can't imagine the look on his face as he sails past his partner. A good report indeed.
