LOL

as I read this topic I was expecting to find a joke about a new form of redpointing or something like that.

"climb the tree for three feet then stem out on the face..."
I want to go to hell... there's probably lots of rock to climb there.

I have freeclimbed redwood trees in California. No branches, too wide to shimmy, you got to climb it like a cliff face. The bark can be a bit chossy though. You got to be carful not to pull too hard on it, or dynamically wight it. How’s that for woodpoint? Can also be done in an ice climbing variation (just blame the damage on woodpeckers).

There are a few climbs in Squamish that have pretty much that exact sequence.
