I didn't repond on the RC.com thread, but maybe I'll respond here. Since my own accident reading about accidents of other climbers hit me a lot harder. It makes me feel the fraility of out lives and the dangers of our sport.

Reports say that Todd didn't die on some horrible dangerous climb. It appears it was gear failure, the belay loop of his harness gave out while he was rappeling.

It could have been any of us.

Life is fragile, but we still choose to go out an enjoy it.

Rest in Peace Todd.

Fred and I have both recently replaced our harnesses because our belay loop was worn and frayed.

scary stuff.
