Apparently the CCH alien patent has been bought by the Spanish climbing company Fixe.

The life of the American Aliens patent protection ran out about 4 years ago and was unenforceable in Spain anyway. I have no idea why they were willing to pay CCH for the rights to produce the new cams. DMM sure as hell didn't give BD any money when the C4s went off patent and they started selling Dragons.
That said, having Aliens available from a company that cares about safety is probably a good thing.
