I've been researching the Mammut Smart lately... seems like a neat rig. Has anyone ever used one or seen one?

I like the two rope alpine version. Seems it would outperform all other belay devices in that you can "auto" lock belay lead, "auto" lock belay second, and rap on two lines.

I guess you could add to that list that it is "auto" locking on rapell in case you get stung by a bee or something. Essentially replaces those timely prussiks.

Interesting product, especially the alpine version. I couldn't find a weight for it though. Any idea how it compares to the reverso, or others?

I also didn't see details on lowering or paying out slack when in autoblock (2nd) mode.

They say it's a 1/3 of the weight of a GriGri.

Videos of this device are few and between but you can find some on YouTube.

I think I'm going to get one and test it out. They are only $40.
