we have decided to build a woody in our basement since we have been tied to home more these days.

Used holds donations would be greatly appreciated to get us started. We have zero holds at the moment but lumber has all been ordered.

Okay,

now we have a huge amount of lumber in our basement. Tell you what.... if you guys have holds to donate.. we'll hold a mini comp with prizes of beer at our place.

With Baby's bedtime pretty early and Fred working loads of overtime lately we've found getting to the gym to be something we can only manage 1 or 2 times a week at the moment. This way we can climb after baby goes to bed.

A cheap way to increase the # of holds on your wall for very little money is by making wood jugs with scrap wood. I would also suggest checking out e-bay and even the used gear section on RC.com.

Good luck with your wall, but I don't really see a flood of used holds coming your way (but I guess this was worth a shot).

Don't forget NICE climbing holds.

They've just redone their whole line of holds -- they are really cool. Plus they've made them out of a lighter composite so your ratio of holds to shipping costs is better.

The UNB gym has tons of Teknik holds. And they are awesome, but we'd like to get some different ones from what we are used to climbing on.

We have ordered about 500$ worth of holds from MEC so most of them are Teknik and Metolious. It is a good start and will at least put some holds on the wall. We will now start adding some of the sweeter hold from each company.

The wall is complete now. we are just waiting for our hold order.

Unfortunately the pics will have to wait until Fred does them with his D200. my P&S was stolen.

Very nice! Thank for the pics. One thing that I enjoyed on our wall was large features to break up a regular flat section:

Ours has a full vertical section on the back wall. Kinda useless for fred cause he can grab the roof holds when he stands up on the bottom feet, but you can force yourself to climb through a variety of moves.

The main thing though about the vertical section is that it will be awesome for the kids to climb on. And that is super important to us.

Have you tried Ebay? Johanne got a massive set of jib-to-mediums From a start-up in the UK. I think it worked out to be about 2$/hold. The holds were reminiscent of the NICROS 'micros' and small/medium TECNIK. Nice contours, reasonable texture... a lot of 3 finger buckets, and 1.5 pad 4 finger sloping eeges. I think the set would fit in well with your angles... though they have others available too.

Can't wait to visit!

nop, the elusive Moncton climbing wall has yet to show up. I think I am more likely (unfortunately) of believing in Santa, then a wall in moncton....
