These Sessions are open to the general public as well as R&I members. Space is limited.
Goal:
Our objective is to provide a foundation of skills and knowledge that will enable our members to safely and competently step into the world of outdoor roped rock climbing.
Day One:
This section is intended for beginner climbers interested in learning introductory terms and techniques for outdoor climbing. This section is will teach skills to allow the student to understand how to safely identify and use basic climbing equipment, belay, top rope safely, and tie knots.
Day Two:
This section assumes the student has attended and fully understands the skills covered on day one. You will learn rappelling methods and backup-up systems as well as anchor systems appropriate for top roping.

Lower Level, Lady Beaverbrook Gym on the UNB Campus

Day One - Saturday, February 23rd 8am to 12pm
Day Two - Sunday, March 16th 8am to 12pm
How Much:
No charge for monitors
$25 for UNB Rock and Ice Club members
$25 for Non- members plus $50 membership to the UNB Rock and Ice Club
Payment can be made at the beginning of the fist session via cash or cheque made payable to the UNB Rock and Ice Club. If you cannot afford any or part of the fee please let the below contact know and we'll make arrangements as the club can always use good quality volunteers. All proceeds go to the UNB Rock and Ice Club and are used for betterment of climbing in New Brunswick.
