Avalanche Skills Training Level 1. November 22nd - 23rd, 2014
Ski Chic-Chocs will be offering an AST Level 1 training accredited by the Canadian Avalanche Center. This will be hosted at the Courtyard Marriott in Halifax, NS.

Ski Chic-Chocs is the biggest avalanche safety training school east of the Rockies in terms of number of students trained every year.
Description of the AST-1 training in Halifax.
Here are the objectives and details about the training course:
Objectives:
- To learn the basic notions involved in the conditions present in the forming of an avalanche.
- To learn the different steps to take when planning a vacation in avalanche prone regions.
- To learn the appropriate techniques involved in mountain travel in an avalanche prone region.
- To learn to identify an avalanche prone terrain.
- To learn how to use an Avaluator.
- To learn how to use avalanche safety equipment such as : ARVA, shovel and probes
- To learn the appropriate techniques to use in a rescue situation.
-At the end of the course, students will receive a certificate of completion of the AST-1 training from Ski Chic-Chocs which is accredited by the Canadian Avalanche Center.
-The cost of the training is 249 $ per participant.
