Below is a press release with information about the upcoming (Memorial Day Weekend) Acadia Climbing Festival in Bar Harbor, Maine. This is always a fun event, so please pass on the info to fellow climbers/friends. Thanks!

Atlantic Climbing School and Cadillac Mountain Sports have once again teamed up to present the fifth annual Acadia Climbing Festival – two nights of slides and film celebrating climbing and adventure at Reel Pizza in Bar Harbor over Memorial Day weekend.

On Saturday evening, North Face athlete and widely-traveled climber Mark Synnott returns to tell the story of his most recent adventure to Pitcairn Island, a small island of volcanic rock in the middle of the South Pacific Ocean made famous by the mutineers from the HMS Bounty. Traveling by sailboat with fellow climbers Greg Child, Kevin Thaw and Jimmy Chin, the team made several first ascents on the island’s cliffs and glimpsed one the world’s unique societies. Mark’s reputation as a great storyteller makes this a must see for climbers and non-climbers alike.

On Sunday, Benedictus, a film by Jennifer Tennican and Bill Clack, follows Boston-area climber Tom Callaghan’s epic, multi-year quest to establish a new climb on New Hampshire’s Cannon Cliff despite nagging injuries, changing partners and uncooperative weather. Film maker Jennifer Tennican will present the film and discuss its genesis and the logistics of filming in the vertical world.

Also on Sunday, Harvest Moon, a film by Rob Frost, documents a Swiss expedition to climb a new route on Thalay Sagar (22,650 ft.) in the Garwhal Himalaya in northern India. Four Swiss climbers tackle the northwest ridge on the right side of the mountain’s immense 4,600 foot north face.

An Access Fund membership drive and raffle will also be included both evenings. The Access Fund is a nation-wide climber advocacy organization.
