at 1000 hrs that's 10:00 am for you non military types. After a day of climbing hard you know pulling down on those dirty 5.8's we will head to my place for beer and BBQ. I need to know how many people please send me an email before thursday if you are comming to the house. If you are drinking tons and wish to crash here that is cool just please contribute by bringing some beer. All are welcome even those who I have pissed off or who have pissed me off :) I won't get drunk and kick you in the gouch, so ok I won't kick you in the gouch.

Hey guys it looks like Teth needs a ride, as I am kinda out this way I can't so who wants to pony up? If you give him a ride maybe he won't delete your posts, common suck up to tha man :) J/K (please don't shoot)

The big questions are will we have a rock betty to represent the stronger sex? Will Peter and Tom's wives come and support mine in teaching me how to be more "PC"? Will the new rock betty survive? Will there be another limmerick? Find out on the conclusion of "Stoners episode 5".

Ok, how in the hell is that link supposed to be useful for finding this place? Am I going to be landing in a helicopter? I mean, that would be a hell of an entrance. I need street names gouch-kicker!

are you Stoners that desperate for y-chromasome that you would accept a rock betty who mainly clips bolts and may be wielding a drill? because I am leaing toward joining the NWP...

Postby peter » Tue Apr 19, 2005 1:06 pm

The Stoners are opposed to all rules. As a result, our rules are as follows:

- no top-roping, bolting, or sport climbing, and bouldering only as warm up
- all trad climbing, on lead or second, with a strong preference for run-out
- preference given to those showing promise in route development
- second preference given to those willing to re-open old classics
- put another way, some cleaning required at all outings
- sit starts are optional, but generally considered "contrived"
- must be tolerant of intertolerance
- must have a sense of humour (see previous rule)
- all posers will be shunned
- the consumption of alcohol is not mandatory but is required
- all are welcome, regardless of gender or gender preference
- dry toolers will be electrocuted in a pool of their own urine at day's end.

Mitt:

I think Thom and I will just meet you at the crag. We old folks like to get up early, drink our prune juice as we watch the sun rise, then wobble out to the crag on our golf cart, so we can get in our best climbing before our "Depends" starts to bulge and sag. See you there!

Drive down to prospect, on your way to the villiage of prospect you will see on your right a road called selig's drive down seligs for about 1 km and there is a road on the left called Oceanfront I am at the end of that road. There is a big jeep in the front yard (yes I am a red neck).

126 Ocean front Drive

The only house at the end of the Cul-de-Sac.

New way in to Sorrow's End: see http://www.climbnovascotia.ca and click on the Access link. The contents is also reproduced below. Peter

SORROW'S END - 'The New Way In'

Well, it's done. The new trail that Teth started has been cleaned. The only thing left is the annoying knee height bushes haven't been too well cut/trampled. But all major branches and such have been removed and more orange flagging tape added. It's very easy to follow and not wet at all. It's about 25 min to walk from car to cliff and once a few spots are straightened out, probably less. We just followed the marked route and cleaned it, so there are definitely some twists and turns. But anyway, it's faster then the other way around. Thanks to scooter, craggie craig, cbaker for helping out.

For those who don't know Sorrow's End...

Take Highway 333 towards Peggy's Cove Turn Left onto Terrance Bay Road

At the "Welcome to Terrance Bay" sign you will see two driveways on your right going up a steep hill. In between those driveways are two orange tags, the trail starts there. Scramble up the hill and follow the orange tags across the first ATV trail . The trail is a little twisty, but just keep following the orange tags past the "deck-without-a-house", a couple of creeks and a dilapidated tree stand. Approx 20 minutes from the road you will come out onto another ATV trail. This is the old trail that used to cut through the resident's backyards across from the fish plant. From here you are about 5 minutes from the top of the rock face (Sorrow's End is west facing), just keep walking west (right out of the woods). Warning, this is a spider-web of ATV trails, so bring a compass.

Parking: PARK ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD!!! There is a pull-out on the opposite side of the welcome sign, but this most likely belongs to the two houses on the water. Let's keep on these people's good side, unlike the residents of Nice View Drive.

Ok, well I hope I can still meet ppl at the Car Pool area.. cause thats where I am gonna be. I will be hitting MEC at 9 am sharp to pick up a few things, then off to the Car Pool Area on the 333. DONT LEAVE WITHOUT ME!!! hehe, I WILL BE THERE! Hey are we gonna have a chance to pick up some fluids and solids for the bbq after the climb? Cause otherwise, its a lot of planning on my part to prepare now. You know how it is. So Mitt as long as its still awight, I am gonna crash at your place. Hope you dont mind sleeping on the couch. hehe.

Mitt,
Have you climbed on the cliffs at the end of Hages Lane?? There are some nice lines...the rock is a bit crumbly in spots, but it's not that bad.
I've always wondered if anyone else had climbed there....

Steve I will be there to meet you. Nate I have, myself, Todd F, and a guy who left many years ago named Frank Armstrong did about 4 lines there. Not bad little cliff. I just did a major bushwack to get here:
http://maps.google.ca/maps?ll=44.492429 ... &t=k&hl=en

Fantastick looking boulders, but man I would not even atempt to have a go again without a canoe. Anyone ever get down there?

Overall, it was S_H_I_T. Peter and Tom did some nice leads and Steve got up some stuff. The weather didn't know what to do. The BBQ and beers after were great.
