Directions to Rumney / North Conway

Does it save any time to drive to St. John than down Hwy #1, cross the boarder in St. Stephen, and take Hwy #9 to Bangor. than ride the 95, to the 26 to the 302 and into North Conway.

Or

Would it be better to cross the boarder at Woodstock / Houlton, and take the 95 all the way.

The first option is 950km, the second is 1009km. What the better ride?

I drove the first route you explained about 2 weeks ago. Road was good all the way through. Took me 13 hrs from Sydney

If you were going to Clifton I'd say go the St John way but seeing as you are continuing on the I95 on the other side of Bangor I think Woodstock is definitely the way to go. You'll be on 4 lane all the way as opposed to two way traffic.

Woodstock, I95 is faster (although visually monotonous).

4 of use depart Tuesday Morning. Will go as far as North Conway, spend the night and hit the outfitter store wednesday morning. Word has it that all the Rumney guides have been recalled, and a new one is due out soon ( fingers crossed ).

Rumney guide is out of print. Some people from Fredericton were just down there and not able to get a copy. Try to borrow one before you leave.

I found out about the recall before I left, and borrowed a copy from a friend. Sweet spot, little traffic, kewl camp site, all in all a prefect trip until we tried to get back into canada.

If your in line to get back into canada, do not run out of your parked car, and pick up some stuff at the duty free shop prior to customs. They will take your car and charge you a $1000 bucks to get it back.

Wow, I could see how that would be really tempting if you're stuck in your car for an hour or two at the boarder.
