My whole upper body is sore and my legs are tired, but no strained muscles, which is just right after a good day climbing. It was a beautiful day on Saturday at Paces Lake. There was a lot of bugs, but they were not bighting me.
It was a day of firsts for me: my first time at Main Face, my first multi pitch climb (if Sleeper qualifies in that category), my first lead of the season (first pitch of Sleeper 5.7), my first time seconding (Sleeper second pitch 5.6), and my first outdoor sport climb (Deep Throat 5.8 ).
I really enjoyed the bottom pitch of sleeper. At 5.7 it was the easiest route I have lead, but I found there is a lot to be said for being able to relax and saver the experience. The second pitch was the first time I have seconded in the three years I have been trad climbing. I have not got out often with other trad climbers, so I usually just remove my own gear on repel.
Deep Throat is an awesome route. Sport is a bit of a different experience from Trad, but it was nice to do some face climbing.
Have any hard core boulderers seen that roof on the walk out a ways beyond Farewell to Arms? Looks like 12 feet of near horizontal V8 roof action!
