Are we here yet?

So what's up? It's been pretty cold (certainly compared to the 35C I've been living in for the past few months), I've got ice in my driveway, and I'm thinkin it might be soon time to climb some ice.

Is it worth getting out the file yet er what?

Yo Mike. Get out your file, and your aeroplan points.

The peaks described on the link below are 1.5 - 3.0 hours from my house, highway driving.

Oh Peter,

I sent you an mail a while back stating my interest in visiting you on my way home from Nigeria, I guess you didn't get it. Booo!

On the upside of things- I do have a shitpile of airmiles and could use some mountaineering to refresh myself.

Lemme have a talk with work about upcoming scheduling in January and see. How's you schedule between say Dec. 27 and the middle of January?

I'm interested

Winter Climb

Postby peter » Wed Dec 21, 2005 2:21 pm

Reid and I are climbing in Chamonix between Dec 29 and Jan 7, but after that I am free (though my family may shoot me). Couldn't do later?

Airports include Montpellier (Air France direct to Montreal), Girona (Spain), and some smaller ones (ie Carcassone).

Perhaps we should reassess this whole thing, once you feel comfortable that your family has the rifles safely locked in the cabinet. I'm in the heat of renovations and wouldn't mind getting some tiles on the floor and appliances in the walls before globetrotting again. I am interested in getting into some low altitude, technical peaks... it might be a good idea to get some ice climbing done over here first as a warm up.
I think the way forward is to jump on a plane a week or 10 days before my next job starts (or after it's over) and climb then.
When are you heading back to the sunny side of the ocean?

Alpine

Postby peter » Thu Dec 22, 2005 4:58 pm

I am keen on climbing in late January, or early February (ie before the 3rd week).

I would like to climb in Norway (techinical, long ice) this winter, or Scotland (long, unpredictable snow and ice), or would climb again in the Alps.

You tell me when. I have family coming on Feb 18 or so (which I can work around), and a child's Bday on Feb 25/06 (which I can't).

Sounds good Peter,

I'll keep everything in mind and hopefully piggyback a climbing trip onto a work flight.

Of course, if I'm not working, airmiles are always fun to trade in.

I'll keep ya posted.
