If there is ice to climb is it official you're all headed to Moose River?
What is the rating of the routes there?
When will you depart, and are you meeting up first ata coffee shop or something? We're in town then, and are looking to do some climbing, and would love to join you.

My wife and I would love to join you on the adventure. We won't need any gear, and can bring a 60M dry rope, a half dozen ice screws, and some webbing and static cord.
We may have room in the car on the way over, but we're continuing on to PEI afterwards.
Let me know.

I have Some Gear. 4 head protectors, and 5 green ropes, of which only one is for ice. Can anybody tell the diff? A pair Axes ( i think the shafts have been filled with lead, cause frig there heavy ), and some crapons. What have the temps been like in Moose river Gorge the last 2 weeks?
In case things aren't formed at Moose River you may want to check out some other stuff out that way. Harrington River is a little more roadside and there is a waterfall where the west branch meets the main river. It's a lower volume river as well so potentially quicker formation, and I've heard that the side of the gorge is extremely steep, which the topo indicates.
Oh yeah Mitt, those directions are spot on as well, and is the easiest way in(but was froze last time I was out there), just make sure that once you see the hill you follow the road that goes up towards it and back down into the river. First time I hiked in I ended up on a feeder stream which I followed and ended up below the gorge, missed everything, hiked downriver to the main road and back up the dirt road to my car in the pissing rain.
Hey,
I'm an ice climber from Ontario in my first year at Acadia, and I was hoping that you guys might be able to tell me of some spots to climb. I'm here in the Valley during the week (at school of course), and on the weekends I'm staying with some friends in Truro. I don't care how tall, hard, or easy the ice is... I just want to climb!!! thanks,
Jana
Well, Truro has its victoria park, with plenty of routes once it gets cold enough. Over in Wentworth, there's one or two waterfalls for beginners. In Bedford, there's the quarry, and more places in the halifax area that the locals there can tell you about.

SOme of the locations I've posted on Trailpeak.com (www.) Deep Cove is there. I had a go at it last winter.
Victoria Park is right in Truro. I guess you could look at a map of the town. It's right beside Young Street in a big gorge.
Wentworth has a waterfall that barely had enough ice on sunday. On the old highway (route 13 I think) you find the Wentworth valley inn on the left, and work your way back a few 100 meters. A log road takes you in. 5 minute walk. Really cool place because there's a tunnel at its top.
Other places to ice climb in NS? Not sure. Cape Breton as well as the series of water falls between parsboro and Bass River. NB has more I think. Check out the link on this site. Grand falls is really nice, as is sussex's parlee brook. Those are on Trailpeak too. I will probably post the wentworth climb this week. (I am an editor for the website)
