Climbing trip

Postby I climb little rocks » Thu Dec 30, 2004 3:00 am

Hey just tought I would post to see if there is any interest for some
climbing in either the the Cirque of the Unclimables or for a trip to
the Waddington range (set up base at the Waddington-Combatant col)
The only reason why im posting this trip so far in advance is to get an
idea on how many people would be intersted.
Im driving up to Squamish in May so I would have a car if only up to 4 are interested but other people from the West C. are also interested so transportation from YYC or YVR would probably not be a problem.
Charters for both options are roughly the same price i.e. Finlayson
lake to glacier lake for the Cirque, or from Bluff lake to the Waddington range (hopefully up the col but since it's over 3000m landing depends
on conditions and might have to be done at lower elev.
The price in both instances are around 600-700 cad P.P. This does not
include local transportation from YHZ or YSJ
From the top of the Waddington-Combatant col it's easy acces to a
plethora of multipitch climbs from ED1 500-700m 5.9 to 5.11. A short walk from camp is the north face of Waddington. The range is big so
to approach the easier climbs near the Plummer hut would be a full days hike but there is lots in terms of rockclimbing, from 3rd-4th class scramble, rock routes of all grades on the south faces and ice climbs in gullies on the north faces for the Serras-Stileto group.
As for Glacial lake in the Cirque, it's another half a day's hike uphill to
Fairy meadows. Not much for glaciers and ice climbing in this area just
lost of long multipitch trad and aid climbs here is a link for more info http://www.geocities.com/~gibell/cirque/
Both of these trips are unsupported, the only form of communication
is via satalite phone from the Cirque or a short wave radio from Mt Waddington for a 2 week period (flexible).
Hope this will spark some interest in some adventure climbing.. :D
