Sudbury climbing beta

Postby mike » Sun Aug 28, 2005 12:02 pm

Can anyone give me some details about the climbing scene in and around Sudbury?
Stuff like where's the goods and where can I buy enough gear to get out on some rock, etc.

Info as of June 2003 - don't think it has changed much

Gear = bring your own, there's nothing in town
good crags =
- Cup and Saucer, Manitoulin Island,
- In town: 'Mount Doom' has some fun lines, big black rock face heading west out of town on HWY 17, it is on your left near the 144 turnoff.
There is a climbing scene centered around the 'Laurentian Bouldering Club', they do have ropes too as far as I remember, don't be scared to ask... Bouldering was just starting to be developed when I left.
Good luck
