NS Ice Conditions

Postby climbholio » Fri Dec 21, 2007 11:02 am

Climbed at Deep Cove yesterday, Thursday , Dec 20. The morning sunhit takes it toll on the face, with lots of large blocks at the base, drippy conditions, and big delaminated slabs. I think in a couple weeks it will be ready for beginners when it is a bit fatter. At this point in the season it is a bit too thin and steep, unless you are willing to mix things up a bit. I was able to make one lead with some stubby screws and slung columns. Wish I would have had some knifeblades and bugaboos on me. The pillars to the far right are now ready for steep toproping.

Baxter's Harbour is out, as of December 23, 2007, due to unusually high storm surges, we imagine. See photos at:

A monk asked Quiglin Shiqian, "What is a person who has realized the Way?"
Quiglin said, "Embracing the ice and snow, head and eyebrows held high."
